USCB’s Center for Event Management and Hospitality Training developed and launched the Bluffton Ambassador program in 2019. Modeled after the successful Island Ambassador program, which passed the 3,000-certified mark in 2022, the Bluffton Ambassador program includes a two-hour seminar and reference items for further learning. The topics include Bluffton’s history, amenities, governance and future planning. It ends with what it means to be a Blufftonian. The seminar is tailored to each audience and updated with current information every time it is offered. Each attendee also receives a Bluffton Ambassador folder, pin, notepad, and detailed Bluffton Ambassador pocket guide. This is a 44-page printed publication with local information that supplements what is taught in the seminar. The launch of the program was exceptionally well received. Within the first year, we certified 170 Bluffton Ambassadors, including local realtors, merchants and hospitality employees. Reviews of the program from attendees were overwhelmingly positive, and demand for future sessions is strong.
We are happy to be a part of Bluffton’s success in maintaining the essence and culture of the town while it is undergoing the explosive population growth that is shaping the area. We look forward to working with the Town to continue to offer this valuable resource to Blufftonians in the future.
